March 13, 2018
Monday, April 2 at 7:00pm to 9:00pm Norman C. Craig Lecture Hall, Science Center 119 Woodland Street, Oberlin, OH 44074 For more than a decade, Oberlin College's Translation Symposium has been an intellectual and creative high point of the academic year. It is a fast-paced, multilingual event that introduces and celebrates literary works from more than a dozen languages. Each selected participant will have a five-minute window to read a brief original-language text (poetry or prose), follow with their English translation, and comment on the translation process.
The Symposium will take place Monday evening, April 2nd, at 7 PM in Craig Hall of the Science Center. A Keynote talk follows on Tuesday afternoon, April 3, at 4:30 p.m., with guest speaker Mary Ann Newman, entitled, "In Praise of Borders (Not Walls): Translation and the Shibboleths of Identity."
