Seniors: Class of 2015 Banner Competition
Feb. 17, 2015
Each year since the late 1800s, the senior class is asked to create a 6’ x 9’ class banner. The banner is unveiled at the Senior Supper during Senior Week, then hung in the Big Top in Wilder Bowl, and – best of all – on the front of Finney Chapel during Illumination. Imagine, your banner hanging over Oberlin Steel as they play on the steps of Finney! Finally, the banner represents the Class of 2015 at all future Oberlin reunion weekends.
We are inviting design submissions for the Class of 2015 banner! You can view sample banners from past years if you stop in the Office of Alumni Relations at 65 E College Street and check out the photo album. (Pop over when you come to Slow Train for a cup of coffee, we’re right next door.)
Ground rules: --Your sketch idea needs to incorporate the word “Oberlin” and include 2015 or ’15 --Your design must be possible to replicate as a 6’ x 9’ felt banner, with a 4” margin at the top to facilitate hanging --The design can hang either vertically or horizontally --All entries must be submitted to the Office of Alumni Relations at the Ward Alumni Center, 65 E College St, Suite 4 (behind Slow Train, in the building to the east) by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24. --Digital entries saved as PDF files are acceptable and can be sent to Kira McGirr in the Office of Alumni Relations at email@example.com --Feel free to submit several entries --When submitting your sketch, please also include your name, e-mail address, and phone number
The Senior Class Officers and Gift Committee Members will choose the winning sketch. The winner (and recruited friends) are expected to make the actual banner. The Office of Alumni Relations will pay for labor and all materials necessary to make the banner.
