On Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers from the Oberlin Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call of a physical assault in the area of Union and North Professor Streets, near campus. A student had received injuries during a physical altercation with two non-college males. Police transported the student to Mercy Allen Hospital Emergency Room where he was treated and released.
The police investigation revealed that a student from Langston Hall answered his door and two unknown subjects pushed him back into his room, which caused him to fall over an item and land on the floor. One of the subjects stood over the student, while the other subject searched the room. The subjects left the room apparently without taking any items. The subjects exited the residence hall towards Union Street. The student gave chase and caught up with the subjects on Union Street near North Main Street. When the subjects were confronted by the student, a physical struggle ensued. The student received his injuries in this struggle. The subjects were described as a white male about 5’7” with a stocky build and multiple tattoos and a black male about 6’2”slender build with dreadlocks and dread tips. Both subjects were wearing black hoodies and jeans. They fled the area on foot.
