Call for Oberlin College Dialogue Center Nominations
March 11, 2014
The Office of the Ombudsperson is currently seeking nominations for approximately 15 students and four to five faculty and staff members to participate in training for mediation and negotiation skills for the Oberlin College Dialogue Center (OCDC) during the 2014-15 academic year.
The OCDC is a multipartial independent entity within Oberlin College which strives to promote change through conflict transformation, mediation, community building, educational workshops, and facilitated dialogue. Our program is based on a social justice model and therefore it is the responsibility of our group to uphold the belief in social change.
In the past, you have helped us by nominating able students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. Individuals who were selected through the nomination process have done excellent work mediating several disputes as well as facilitating dialogue and promoting educational programs. Because of their efforts, the OCDC continues to reduce the burden of conflict on campus and in the Oberlin community at large with a success rate of 95 percent.
Again, we seek your help in identifying a diverse group of rising sophomores and juniors to become responsible mediators and facilitators. Please help us by nominating your peers. You can also nominate yourself if interested.
Please submit nominations via e-mail to email@example.com by March 21, 2014. It is our hope to complete selections by April 30, 2014. Training will then take place prior to the start of fall semester, from August 25 to 29, 2014. Should you have questions, please send them by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
