Tuesday Move-In Traffic/Parking Changes
Aug. 26, 2013
A temporary change in the traffic patterns will be initiated Tuesday morning for new students and their families arriving on campus. Safety and Security asks your cooperation in moving from street parking on Woodland and Union Streets beginning Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon and instead utilize nearby campus lots. Please note these changes:
On north campus, Woodland Street will become one-way north bound and Union will be one-way east bound. There will be no parking on the west side of Woodland by police order, and 10 minute drop off/unloading areas may be set up to assist students and their families moving into the residence halls of Barrows, Noah, and Zeke. Likewise, there will be no parking on the south side of Union so that the 10 minute drop off/unloading areas may be set up for Langston. Staff and students are asked to use the parking lots including Woodland North, Union Street, and Philips Lot. Philips lot may be better accessed from N. Professor to avoid the congestion on Woodland and Union Streets.
North Professor will remain a two way street. There will be 10 minute drop off/unloading areas in the driveway of Bailey and Burton. In front of East and Barnard, there will be 10 minute drop off/unloading on N. Professor, but no longer-term parking. The driveway to the Stevenson Lot will be a 10 minute drop off/unloading area for Kahn Hall. Keep Cottage 10 minute drop off/unloading area may be accessed from N. Main St (SR 58).
In the central campus, Dascomb and Harkness, temporary 10 minute drop off/unloading areas will be on the north side of W. College, in front of Dascomb. Students moving into Harkness need to use the crosswalk to cross W. College or wait on the direction of the officer to use the driveway. The driveway of Tank can only be used for 10 minute drop off/unloading afterwhich vehicles must be moved to a parking lot. The closest is the Willard Court Lot.
On south campus, city road projects have necessitated a change in the regular move-in traffic flow. Residence halls on Elm and Forest may be better accessed from South Cedar Street South Hall, Saunders, Harvey and Kade students will be directed to the South Hall driveway for 10 minute drop off/unloading areas near their halls. Fairchild and Baldwin can be accessed from Elm St. Lord, Price and Allencroft will have drop off and parking available on Forest Street. For central and south campus visitors, please utilize the Grey Gables and Conservatory parking lots.
All 10 minute drop off/unloading areas are attended by Safety and Security Officers on Tuesday morning. After unloading, all drivers will be required to park in parking lots. Although traffic may remain heavy, regular traffic patterns should resume no later than 1:30 pm. The Safety and Security office thanks faculty, staff, students and parents for their patience on supporting this important move-in day activity. Please contact the Safety and Security office at 440-775-8444 if you have a specific need for this time.
