Multistate Meningitis Outbreak Information

Oct. 11, 2012

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that anyone who has experienced problems following an injection with the NECC product between May 21 & Sept 24 to report it to MedWatch, the FDA's voluntary reporting program, by phone at 1-800-FDA-1088 or online at www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm. The problems listed include headache, fever, nausea, and neck stiffness that are present with viral and bacterial meningitis. This rare fungal meningitis includes those symptoms plus confusion, dizziness, and discomfort from bright lights. Patients who began showing symptoms between one and three weeks after being injected should see their doctor right away. More information can be found on the CDC website
