New Year New Me Fitness/Wellness Mentoring Program
Nov. 15, 2011
The Office of Wellness and the Center for Leadership in Health Promotion will launch New Year, New Me (NYNM) on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. NYNM will help faculty, staff and students build a strong foundation for their health-related New Year resolutions. The program runs through Tuesday, January 31st, 2012. Over a dozen fitness and wellness mentors, all members of the Oberlin College community (faculty/staff and students), are making themselves available to their colleagues throughout the month-long NYNM program. The mentors have volunteered to help others try a fitness or wellness activity during the new year. Mentors aren’t experts. Rather, they are individuals who already adhere to personal wellness practices. Their interests include walking, running, yoga, swimming, organic cooking, and healthy eating habits. To take part in NYNM, review the Mentor Directory by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org and choose the mentor you want to work with, and send that person an e-mail indicating your interest. You and your mentor(s) will work out an individualized plan of meetings or activities—or both—for the month. Students should match themselves with student mentors, and faculty/staff with faculty/staff mentors. And what about those extra incentives? Mentors will enter the names of the NYNM participants they’ve worked with in a drawing for prizes. The goal of the Office of Wellness and the Center for Leadership in Health Promotion is to increase wellness and health promotion programs and services for the campus community. Send requests for more information about OC Well and New Year, New Me in an e-mail message to email@example.com.
